September Around Seattle 2018

September is one of the best boating months in Puget Sound. The kids are back in school, the tourist are back at work and the charter boats are back in their slips.The weather is great and if you are heading to a destination around the Sound then you are only competing with the locals who are all out there enjoying September. This September is warmer than normal and almost no rain, they even use the word drought here in the PNW!

First Thursdays, Free museum day and we like to go to the Seattle Art Museum and take a tour, we enjoy learning from the different docents that volunteer to share their take on the art on display.

PNW Indigenous Art is highly valued throughout the region.

Really liked this abstract, It is so interesting how each person interprets or sees in this painting.

Great day for a Boat Project!

Sooner or Later we will need this so I am making sure we are ready Teddy!

The old windlass had to be literally cut from the boat due to corrosion.The previous owners were more into fun than maintenance.

Took me two months to get the old one out since I was sure I could revive it and get it going again.

Mata Harie is a C36 like ours except it is all race boat and these guys bring home the hardware. They are one two docks over from us and they participate weekly in the races on the Sound.

Our daughters family moved to Magnolia so we are often up there doing our Grandparent thing. A sunset walk along the Magnolia Bluffs overlooking the sound is a great way to end the afternoon. 

Just as we were finishing our walk a Coast Guard Helicopter hoovers over this vessel.

Sail when you can, November is coming and it is usually a rainy month.

We have always enjoyed seeing the balanced rock stacks. Some of this seems to have originated in Canada called Cairns. Not everyone is so happy to see them however and believe it has gone so far as to be harmful to the environment, see

A side trip to Poulsbo to drop off some things at Longship Marine. A walk down the water front of Liberty Bay is always good.

The structures being constructed on the Beaches are definitely increasing in size, it had to take a couple of strong backs to put this one up.

A great Day on Bainbridge island must have at least one of the following, A walk at Fort Ward, A forest Hike at any of the numerous locations around the Island, Fay bainbridge State Park, or Hall's Hill Labyrinth, Better yet all Four is Best! 

On the ferry back to Seattle leaving Eagle Harbor.

The Seattle Ferry Docks are going through a complete renovation, It will be a long wait with years long interruptions in ferry service and increasing wait time. Another reason we are glad to have moved to Shilshole from Eagle Harbor.

The first stadium on the left between the cranes is Century Link for the Seahawks and the Sounders, the Mariners stadium is on the right.

This building on the left is incredible at reflecting the days environment. 

Alonso, one of our favorites among the Seattle Sounders. He is Always ON! The Sounders started off the season hanging around the bottom of the group, but with 17 games straight with mostly wins and a couple of draws they are clawing their way back to the top.
