February March 2026 Seattle

February-March 2026 Austin/Seattle

Austin

I have upgraded from my 20 watt Orange amplifier to a 40 watt Marshall DSL. Very excited but since we soon left for Seattle it will have to wait for me to really get into it. I tried buying a used DSL40 online from Guitar Center, but after two disappointing tries and taking the used ones back to Guitar Center I bought a new  floor model that was did the trick. I put the blue tape so I could Identify the knobs since I sit side to the amplifier making it hard to read the labeling from my angle of perspective.

We were lucky to get a visit in with Sister Mama Gin Gin! We watched a fun movie together and caught up on Austin family.

A walk at Mueller to see how the neighborhood has developed. A large percentage of the old Austin Airport site has now been developed.

Seattle

Well here you will see the sun breaks in what was the wettest March on record. Our driving in the rain training went well, Uphill and Downhill!
The day after we arrived in Seattle we were off to the stables with the grandkids!

Taking Big D to his soccer match in Poulsbo, on the Ferry to Bainbridge The interior cabin lighting reflecting in the windows.

Temps were getting into the 50+ range with lows in the 40's

We took a day to revisit the Seattle Sculpture Gardens and the waterfront for our walk.

A new sculpture set being added to the collection

Many Years ago, The Eagle was at a bank Plaza in Ft Worth Texas and a Philanthropist had it moved here.

Pocket Beach is a gem.

Well the trail is closed so they have a uninteresting detour. Why is the scenic trail closed?
They are replacing native vegetation with  drought resistant plants, Can you imagine that in Seattle?
Climate Change at Work!

This Marina is always interesting. Blocks from everything downtown Seattle and the Market areas.

The waterfront construction and remodel is never ending but most of the street and walkways are complete.

WE went to fisherman's Terminal in search of the boat that sells fresh caught salmon right from the boat.

And we found Loki, Get your Fish Here!

Camellia Japonica

Spring is starting to get busy in March walking the Magnolia Neighborhood is always interesting one way or another.

We are all concerned about something.

Our last week in Seattle we got a bit of Snow in March. The snow and resort skiing season never really materialized, and then just when you thought the season was over they get 4-6' of snow in the mountains and the city empties to go enjoy last chance fun in the snow.
Our old 2003 RX300 started making a transmission sound. We both agreed it was time to replace the car that raised four grandkids.

Even they were sad to see her go but they enjoy their new digs.

Our regular trips to the stables are always close to 1 hour one way so the newer car was much better for the job since this one has all wheel drive and better suited for the topography.

First Middle school
Dance time to teach how to tie a tie!

The Cedar plant hedges are prominent in many forms in Seattle

This is how Alaska gets their stuff. The ships unload in Seattle then they load Alaska bound containers on a barge and the tog has a nice trip up the inside passage to Ketchikan, Alaska

This sculpture was at a park South of Seattle adjacent
to, of course, a soccer field.

This is a really nice boat, It went up for sale during our last trip to Seattle, I fully expected it to sell within days. But, it is still here, I talked to our friend Lee Yougblood who is a yacht broker, and he of course mentioned the insecurity of our current economy.

I had ONE relatively warm sunny day to clean the exterior, thank Goodness!

The morning we left Seattle it was sunny and low 30's, we had to carefully navigate patches of ice
on the docks. Then we had to scrape a thick layer of ice from the windshield before driving to the airport.
