From Ft. Worth to Seattle September-October 2024
With an extended trip to Seattle coming up we wanted to spend a week with Big Dave and celebrate his 92nd Birthday.
We drove up to Cowtown to enjoy Big Dave's 92 year old Birthday at his shop. This man still drives and does whatever he wants to. |
While we were in Ft. Worth we had to stop at the Lexus dealer to solve an issue with the control panel on the dashboard. There is an interesting sign at the service dept. |
at Whole Foods in Ft. Worth you can get your kids picture on a pony. |
We were fortunate to get together again with our life long friends but this time Martti and Cookie joined us and completed the picture. Cookie, Lynn, Martti, Roxanne, Jeffery, and Me! |
then we Flew to Seattle to live on the boat for a few months. |
Then I got a notice from City of Austin that we may have a leak at our Austin home The plumber confirmed and so he replaced our water line from the street to the house.. |
big D's 11th Birthday was held at a local Arcade. |
The vintage boats at Shilshole always interest me. |
Eagle sightings are regular in Seattle. |
Super calm day on the Sound, kayakers taking advantage. |
Big D played the Clarinet in 4th grade band, He has moved to Slide Trombone for 5th grade band. |
We got him a Fender Squire electric guitar for his birthday. I played it and was amazed at the quality of this relatively inexpensive electric guitar. I want a Fender now! |
Good way to slow them down just have the little one wrap her sweater around |
The Grandkids school is surrounded by gardens. |
A weird honeycomb like cloud formation drifted by, never seen this. |
We have a new vessel at the end of our dock now, the previous pleasure boat moved North. |
The two available cranes are going to be very busy for the next couple of weeks. |
And then the Nimitz sails by |
Very busy on the docks getting everything prepped and crews on the same page. |
The races will be held just North of Shilshole Bay. There is much more water up there where they have plenty of room without racing through the shipping channels. As I walked the docs I noticed several teams where the entire crew were under 5' tall, saving weight counts, however the local winning team had several over 6'. |
Wow, I guess it got a little to close, crew is repairing a hole on the port aft quarter stern. Will they have her ready for the next race? |
Conditions when the above picture was taken |
The gardens and McIntosh apple trees are maintained by a small army of volunteer gardeners. here they are harvesting the apples in the parking lot of the kids school grounds. |

The grandkids regularly participate in volunteer activities, this time at the Hunger Intervention Program where we all helped packed bags of fruit and snakes for local elementary school kids. |

The case of the boat stairs floating down with the tide in inner channel of the marina was a Facebook conversation on the Shilshole Live Aboard assoc. page where are the stairs now? |
